Healthy Lives,
Healthy Lancaster

Healthy Lives, Healthy Lancaster (HLHL) is a City of Lancaster initiative to assess the health and wellbeing of residents in Lancaster City and work with community partners to build a safe and healthy community for everyone.

What is the purpose of HLHL?

Healthy Lives, Healthy Lancaster will build on existing community needs assessments and prior studies that identified health gaps and disparities in the City of Lancaster. The study will employ neighborhood-level community engagement strategies and research methods to gather additional data and public input through surveys, focus groups, key informant interviews, and community forums.

Using a Social Drivers of Health (SDOH) framework, we aim to better understand and document the myriad factors that affect the health of our residents and lead to health disparities within the realms of:

  • Social and Community Context
  • Neighborhood & Built Environment
  • Health Care Access & Quality
  • Economic Stability
  • Education Access & Quality

The results of the study will help us identify priorities and strategies to improve health and wellbeing in Lancaster City and promote health equity for all residents.

FEEDBACK WE’VE ALREADY RECEIVED
What would make Lancaster a healthier city for everyone?

More affordable housing for lower income families   Easy and affordable care for mental health for everyone   Love yourself so you can love others   More kid activities   Safety education   Mas deportes para los jovenes que son el futuro del manana

How can I participate?

City residents will be able to contribute their input and experiences to HLHL through a variety of ways. They will be asked to provide their feedback through a survey and have the opportunity to participate in focus groups and community forums.

To date, we have engaged with over 1,000 residents through various outreach events like Celebrate Lancaster, Lancaster Pride, San Juan Bautista Hispanic Festival, National Night Out, Church World Services’ Unity Cup, and Recovery Day.

All opportunities to participate will be announced on our website and via social media over the coming months – so stay tuned!

We look forward to hearing from you!
